This second issue broadens the horizons of Turkish literature by including a major article on the relationship between poet and patron in the Ottoman tradition; an introductory history of Turkish theater in the era of the Republic; and review articles that critique from a variety of perspectives, including "The Other Side of the Mountain" by Turkish novelist Erendiz Atasu. "JTL" has an honorary consulting board comprised of such distinguished scholars Bernard Lewis, Geoffrey Lewis, Irene Melikoff, Louis Bazin, and Halil Inalcik. Its editorial board includes Robert Dankoff, Victoria Holbrook, Eleazer Birnbaum, Joseph Jacobson, Celia Kerslake, Walter Andrews, and many other leading scholars.
